Description
Second City Salvage is offering today this amazing pair of brass beam sconces from the Craftsman era c1905. This is a very unique application in that the shade holders hook onto the brackets by three links of brass chain. The brackets will attach to either a panel, beam or even a brick wall. They measure 4 1/2″w x 15″h (to the bottom of the shade) and will project 5″ from the surface once they are installed. Backplates are 2 7/8″ square. Larger brass plates can be fabricated to fit over a junction box if needed. That is an additional charge so let us know if you would like us to take care of that. The shades are the kicker here… Period Gold Aurene Quezal art glass shades have been paired with these and they are virtually perfect in every way. They are in mint condition and signed. Shades measure 4 1/2″w x 5 1/4″h and have 2 1/4″ fitters. These lights accept standard base bulbs and will come to you with period correct cloth wiring, ready to install. Price is for the pair. What’s not to love here?
Note: Quezal was founded in 1901 by Martin Bach Sr. and some former Tiffany employees. From the beginning, Quezal was considered the first real competition for Tiffany. Eventually Martin Bach Sr became the majority owner in the company, and when he died in 1921 his son took over who was not as adept a businessman and Quezal closed in 1924. Even with a couple of decades worth of inventory, Quezal kept its production limited compared to their contemporaries, so the surviving pieces are sometimes hard to come by.
