Description
Second City Salvage is thrilled to offer this lovely pressed brass bowl chandelier from the early 20th century c1912 that has been restored from head to toe. All components are brass, even the chain which is super rare because those are usually brass plated steel. The acanthus leaf embossed ring and canopy on this light are both original and have only been lightly cleaned and retain their original patina. Original paddle switch sockets and Uno shade holders (stamped with a patent date of Dec 24 ’12) have been cleaned and restored and work like a charm. There is a center light that lights up the bowl shade. The glass bowl shade matches the four shades that hang and are etched glass with a wheel cut starburst pattern. All in exceptional condition with no major chips, cracks or repairs. There are a few very minor chips to the four shade fitters that are not notable, and will be hidden once they are placed on the shade holders. The center shade is in mint condition with no condition issues. Here are the specs! Chandelier ring measures 14″ dia – add 4″ to the width to the edge of the shades for a total of 18″. Drop is 22 1/2″ to the bottom of the shade holders and then add an additional 4 1/2″ to the bottom of the shades for a total of 27″. Center shade measures 12″ dia x 5″ h and has a 10″ fitter. The other four are 4 1/2″w x 4 1/2″h and have 2 1/4″ fitters. The chains are 15″ long and could be shortened (at an additional cost). Ceiling canopy is 5″ dia. x 4″h. It accepts five standard base bulbs, will come with updated period correct gold cloth wiring, will be tested and ready to install with a modern cross bar. This fantastic light will definitely make a bold statement wherever it is installed!
