This pair of c1915 antique brass sconces came to me lacquered which is what most people did in the 80s to old lighting. ICK. I took them completely apart and stripped them down to bare brass and revealed this wonderful patina that I lightly cleaned. I paired them with period etched and square cut shades for a really dramatic effect once lit. These could essentially be installed either up or down, but the gas jets should really be pointing upwards aesthetically. The gas jets have not been converted to electric, but who’s to say that can’t be done in the future. I will leave that task up to the next owner of this lovely pair. Overall, they measure 4″w x 9 3/4″h and will project 10″ from the wall once installed. The wall plate is 5 3/4″ square and the shades are 4″w x 4″h with 2 1/4″ fitter. The shades have no cracks, but there are a couple of very tiny flea bite chips that were very difficult to capture in pictures. I did my best. One fitter has minor fractures that are not noticeable unless scrutinized up close and do not, in any way, affect the integrity of the light. Again, this pair will not be separated and will make a dramatic statement wherever they are installed and will age back to a wonderful patina over the years. Wiring has been updated, they have been tested, will come with modern cross bars and are ready to install.
