Description
This is an architectural plaster star pod frieze that has been reproduced (1970s) from the Schiller Building/Garrick Theater on Randolph St. in Chicago designed by Louis Sullivan. The Schiller/Garrick building was built in 1892 and was designed by Adler & Sullivan and ultimately demolished in 1961. The piece measures 26 1/2″ h x 28 1/4″w, weighs 21 lbs. and is ready to hang as a purely decorative piece. It is comprised of plaster reinforced by burlap mesh or jute on the backside and is a replica as most of the terra cotta originals were completely destroyed. This is a fairly rare piece of Chicago architectural history and would be a lovely addition to your Prairie School décor.
