Description
This c1890 Victorian/Aesthetic era ball and stick interior fretwork piece or spandrel, was salvaged from an 1890s farm house in Eau Claire, WI. It measures 65″w x 12″h x 1/2″thick, outside stringers are 14″h. It is constructed mainly of oak with the frame being quarter sawn. All of the balls also appear to be oak, but am thinking that the spindles/sticks are another species of wood. It is in mint condition which is rare for such a delicate piece. The simplicity of it is rare. It is, as far as I am concerned, a wonderful example of Victorian architecture and good to go for another 100 years or more!
