Description
Second City Salvage is thrilled to offer this great pair of cast iron sconces by Murlin that have been restored. Overall measurement is 5”w x 13”h and they will project 8” from the wall once installed. The vintage white glass globes are 5” w x 5”h and have a 3 1/4” fitter. The wall plate measures 4 3/4”w x 9”h. These sconces feature acanthus leaf detail on shade holder, egg and dart detail on the wall plate and an interesting wheel pattern on the arm of the light. These are being sold as a pair and I am not willing to separate. Patina is ORIGINAL. Rust is present and it looks as though these were originally painted black. I elected to leave these as is for now… I will spray these with a flat lacquer if you want to retain the original patina and they won’t rust any further, or we can spray them a satin black if you wish, OR we can leave them as is. Up to you, the buyer. Add a couple of weeks to the shipping time if that is the case. They will be fitted with new wiring and porcelain sockets to accept a standard base bulb and will come with a modern cross bar needed for installation. Recommend LED bulbs for these since the shades do have to be removed for a bulb change. Those last forever. Last photo shows this light in the 1927 Murlin catalog page.
